Build me up Buttercup!

It has been another busy week for the guys! Tearing down...building up...leveling floors....designing layout...etc. The floors on the south side of the house were about 3-4 inches out of level, so they had to shimmed up and made level.

Jimmy has been doing more demo and Mike has been putting up new walls (notice the nice nail gun...His Pride and Joy!)
The first picture where Jimmy is tearing down walls in the front bedroom is looking through what will be the laundry room. Mike is building the walls in the bathroom. The ceilings will be raised too, they will be to the same height and angle as the wall in the bathroom(last pix above).
This side of the house will have 2 bedrooms, a full bath and a laundry room. It is really going to be neat when it is done! Here is a pix of the bathroom.

All of that old wood makes a nice bonfire...Bring your hotdogs and marshmellows!

New Walls Going UP

Mike and Jimmy have been working on putting the new walls in the master suite, kitchen/dining area, and living room. They have to be careful and not take out any supporting walls without providing ample support. Since this house had a lot of it added on to where the original porch was, it makes things interesting. But these challenges give it the charm and character that comes with a home that is nearly 100 years old.

There will be a 6ft patio door where the window is.

This is the bathroom in the master. The back will be a walk in closet. The front part will have a tub, shower, vanity and toilet(not the one pictured).

The above picture will be looking into the kitchen/dining area.
The old shingles are off the roof and tar paper is up.
Mom and Dad are ever watchful...making sure there is no slacking on the job. (LOL)

Sidewalks are In!!

Last week Mike put sidewalks in at our house. I wanted meandering..not straight. When I came home from work I was happily surprised at how nicely Mike had laid them out. It was quite a job for him and Jimmy when the cement came. It was just the two of them doing a 32 x 20 slab in front of the garage and all of the sidewalks. It was one of the warmest days we had had yet, and the cement set up quickly. But they turned out great!! Now we need to replant some grass and get the flowerbeds planted.
