Weekend in Cashmere

There is nothing we like better than spending time with our kids. Jessie has property in Cashmere that he is planning on building on. He had a cat there this weekend to do some dirt work. We went down to help out.

I took a walk(or rather CLIMB) to the upper property corner. What a view from there! You can see Jessies 2 5th-wheels, the trucks, boats, cat and shed down below.
This is the view up the valley and down the valley. That is Cashmere in the distance beyond the corner marker

.

The wildflowers were in bloom too!
We got a new lawnmower in Wenatchee while we were there. It is a truckload for the Toyota!

Saturday the weather was great, Sunday...not so nice. We got home and Mike is out mowing the lawn.

The Inside Demo is Done!!

Yesterday work was at a halt because the huge dumpster had to get dumped...it was crammed as full as it could get. Today the remainder of the debris inside was removed and the house was swept clean. The interior walls that are left are supporting walls, so there will be a lot of thought going into just how rooms can be arranged and where new supporting beams will go.
Here is a picture of Rita, she should be having her foal within the next month..

And these are the two calves we got. Things are going so much better with two instead of one!! No worries!

Friday April 20, 2007

It has been a hard week of demo. The crew ( Jimmy, Krissy & Mike) took Thursday off, then worked today. Today they shoveled out most of the attic insulation. They had to wear respirators since it was so dusty and nasty up there. You can see some of the piles of it in the pix below.

It is going to be so cool to see this all get put back together! Another few days and the demo should be done.
On another note, I won a contest sponsored by the Great State of Montana!! A hand held GPS!

Monday, Monday...

I hope that Mike, Jimmy and Crissy all had a restful weekend because they have a strenuous week ahead of them!! You can see they have the walls open between the kitchen, living room and dining rooms. Now they have to pry off all of the interior wall boards. Tons of nails were used, making this no easy task. As you scroll down through the pictures, notice the sawdust that is in the exterior wall. FYI only the exterior walls of where the house was added on to have this sawdust insulation. The original walls have no insulation! .

I mowed the lawn on Sunday, then Mike and I made a quick trip to Omak and bought a couple of crabapple trees for the yard. We have alot of landscaping to do yet! I got 1 tree planted today, the other will have to wait a couple of days.

Demo ~ Day1

At 8 am sharp operation Demo officially started. Mike, Jimmy and Crissy were ready with pry bars in hand. Here is a look at the house at about 8:15.

I went home to try and get some of my boxes unpacked and put away, and rooms organized. Around 3:00 I went back to town to see what kind of progress they had made and I was amazed at how much they had done!!

Another Moving Day!!

We started moving Mom & Roys house at about 8 am. Mike and Jimmy moved all of the big heavy stuff, while Crissy, Angie and I packed and moved out the other stuff. It was quite a day, but we really got a lot done. Most everything was out of the house by 3:00. By 3:30 we called it a day. Tomorrow we will put our efforts into putting everything away. Mom & Roy came over for dinner, it is fun having them stay so close(in the driveway). I think I am going to go sit in the hot tub tonight!!!

Moving Phase 1...

On the 5th of April we got moved into our new house. What a day!! Jimmy moved into the apartment too. We were all beat by the time we had walked up and down those 17 stairs about 300 times. But it is great to be in the house!! I still have tons to unpack and do...but at least we are here.

Jessie came home for Easter weekend. Saturday was beautiful! Warm and sunny. On Sunday we had an Easter Brunch since Jessie has such a long way to drive home, it is about a 7 hr drive. He will be moving his 5th wheel to Joyce(near Port Angeles) next weekend, to work in that area for awhile. Kelly called and told us about the big Easter surprise they had ~ 21" of snow! She called again this morning to say they got 6 more inches this morning.

Tomorrow is the day that we are moving Mom and Roy out of their house into the little house across the yard. They are staying in the Bounder in our driveway...kinda like camping. We are going to start bright and early in the morning. It will be a full day. I will post before, during and after pictures of the renovation. How exciting.

It Finally Came!!

I finally got my $100 from the Kraft sweepstakes!! I was beginning to loose hope that I would ever really get it.

Tonight the carpet layer came and started laying the carpet. He got all the tack-strip and pad down and the carpet cut. Tomorrow night he will finish laying it, then we can move in!! Mike put up a clothesline for me yesterday~I love the fresh smell of clothes off the line!!

April Fools!!

Here is a picture of the kitchen. Mike put in undercabinet lighting for me..and I Love it!! I got the stools from Target.com. Things are coming together. Next week we should be living here!!

Guess what...we totally forgot that today was April Fools Day until the day was almost over. We usually play stupid jokes on each other, but not this year. Mike was doing some of the finishing work on the apartments downstairs entry(door molding, etc.) He plans on tiling it in the morning. I took the baseboards out of the bedrooms of the house and cleaned all the rooms to ready them for carpet installation on Tuesday. Jimmy brought the horse trailer up and we unloaded it. We have most of our stuff up here now. We will still need to go through it and get rid of a bunch of stuff.
Mom and Roy came up and brought Bob and Sharon Stone with them. Bob and Sharon live in Davenport and drive over a couple of few times a year. They usually come up and see what we have been doing on the place. They are both really nice and we enjoy their visits.
I finally got out and harrowed the horse pasture. My harrowing consists of chaining an old-fashioned bed spring to the four-wheeler and pulling it all around. It works pretty good though. When I got finished Mike said he was going to town to cut down the blue spruce tree at Mom and Roy's so Jimmy could get it cut up and burned. It would have been to close to the new garage that Mike is building.
Jimmy climbed up the tree and tied a rope to a branch..tied the rope to the Toyota and got the rope real tight so the tree would fall the way it was supposed to. Then Mike cut it down. It was a really BIG tree! Jimmy got to work limbing it and hauling it down to the burn pile in the field. Mike & I cleaned out our stuff from the shop in town. whee...what a day.
I didn't get my hot tub cleaned out..oh well. The garage is getting stuffed!! Rhubarb is keeping an eye on things though.
