End of Summer

It has been a busy summer...but always to short. I got to go visit Kelly and Ryan the last week of July. The weather was great! I had a fun filled week shopping, touring the local sites, going to a drive-in movie, picnicking at the lake, walking along the ocean...just to name a few of the things we did. Kelly is a wonderful cook and she always had delicious meals for us. I only wish it wasn't so far to Nova Scotia. I sure miss them.

This is Lucy...I came home from work one Friday night and here she was. Mike made a deal for her trading hay while I was in Nova Scotia. She is a cutie! Pepi wasn't too thrilled with her when we got her..but he thinks she is okay now...but he is still the Boss!

Mike and Jimmy have been working on the house again. It is painted and the wood floors were put in and sanded this week.

Jimmy put the cabinets together and they got them hung. They are really pretty... solid maple fronts. They were delivered to our house on a freight truck on a pallet all boxed up. We bought them on the Internet.

1st Cutting

Mike has been working really hard getting our 1st cutting of hay in. He hasn't got much sleep this week since he starts baling at 12 or 1 in the morning then bales until the dew is gone at about 7 or 8 in the morning. The rest of the day is spent picking up the hay from the field and changing sprinklers. Jimmy has been helping pick it up with the harrow bed and stacking. Here is a picture of our haystack. I'm not sure exactly how much hay there is...but I'd guess around 60 - 70 tons.

Home for a Visit

Happy News...Kelly came home for about a week (never long enough). We all enjoy having her home, she is a breath of fresh air! We wish Ryan could have come too... and the granddogs. Kelly and I went to Cashmere to check out Jessie's house and spent the night with him.

Jessie was just finishing painting his house, it turned out great!

We went to Apple Annie's Antique Mall in Cashmere and another antique shop there. Jessie declined our invitation to come. We did go to a Chinese Buffet for dinner where Jessie grossed me out eating whole baby squid. The next day we spent the morning in Leavenworth. We had a great time shopping around and had crepe's for lunch at a cafe. Check out this cool petunia tree at a market just outside of Leavenworth. I want Mike to make me one!

Kelly and Jimmy went down and played cards with Grandma and Grandpa one night. We went to Rancho Chico, went on a hike and a couple of walks, and mostly just enjoyed having her with us. I so can't wait 'till they live closer...Nova Scotia is too far!! All to soon it was time for her to leave.

Jessie came home for a couple of days...then Jimmy drove him over to the airport in Seattle. He was going to Alaska to take a state lineman's test to work up there. I am happy to say he passed it and is still up there waiting to see if any jobs open up in the next week. I hope he takes the time to look around at the sites while he is there.

Today Mike started the big job of cutting the hay. He got our 20+ acres down, now he has about 30 more that he is farming to cut. Jimmy will be around to help.

Meet Kozi

Mom and Dad got a new dog!! I know..I can hardly believe it either. A friend from work told me about someone that was getting rid of their toy poodle so we went to look at it and the rest is history. She is really a sweetie. Her name is Kozi, and she is about 2 years old. She was really quite neglected and timid, but she is coming around nicely. Here is a picture of Kozi when they got her...and after being groomed (with Pepi).

Today they brought her up to our house and she met Max, Ranger and Pepi. Pepi didn't give her a very welcome greeting (GRRR) and she wasn't too impressed with him either. We will have to let them get better acquainted so they can be friends. It will come.

She really does love her new mom & dad!!

Another Day

On Tuesday I went to Wenatchee with Mom and Dad. Dad had a long awaited for Dr. appointment at the clinic with a specialist. The Dr seemed to be quite encouraging, so that was good news.

Then we went down to see Uncle Clyde and Aunt Lana at Auto-Moca. They are very busy, as usual, but always make time to visit when we stop by. We enjoy getting to see them.

Next we headed to Cashmere to see Jessie's place. Mike, Jimmy and Jessie all were there working.

That is Mike, Mom, Dad and Jessie out on his front porch.

This is looking down the driveway to to his house.

He was getting all of his cabinets in, granite counter tops will be coming sometime soon. I love the slate he laid in his foyer, it goes down the hall and is also in his laundry room

The last picture is of the shower with the glass doors up, it looks like the window is in the shower but it is just a reflection on the glass.

Progress in Cashmere

I made a trip to Cashmere to check on the boys progress on Jessie's house. Wow! It is really coming along nicely! The snow is melting and the mud isn't as bad as it was. After the sheet rock was hung, Jessie hired someone to tape and texture it for him. The guy stayed there and worked steady untill it was done(it was the same person that did Mom and Dad's house). He did a nice job. Then Jessie and Jimmy painted the whole inside. They did it all with the spray gun and it turned out great. Now they are installing the oak hardwood floors.

Mike was working on tiling the master bath shower while I was there, so I helped some with that. I think it turned out really nice...of course it will look even better when it is finished! Next he will install the 18x18 travertine tiles in the master bath
Jessie got started on his front porch too.

A Long..Long.. Long Winter...

I am really tired of winter..snow...cold ...and slush. The days are finally getting a bit longer and the sun gets us above freezing once in a while. The wiring and plumbing are done on our house..Mike and Jimmy will start insulating next Monday. Jessie has all of his sheetrock up and it is being taped and sanded this week. I don't have any pictures to post of his yet, but I will try to get some soon. Here is our house with doors and windows. The small round window is in our Master Bedroom in the vaulted ceiling. It is actually 24" in diameter. This is our livingroom while standing in the dining area.

The 1st picture is of the kitchen area, the next 2 are of the masterbath.

Here are few sweet pictures of Dixie & co. Dixie is the shaggiest little thing and her color is ....well... unusual.
